Philosophy

The key to happiness and holistic health is to understand who we are, in other words, to understand what has shaped us into who we are now.

We learn from our past experiences, which can be positive or negative, such as cultural effects, family history, adverse childhood experience, friends, experience in school and career, love, physical and mental trauma, passion, and joy. What we have learnt from our past determines how we function in this world.

We start awakening into our life when we become aware of our unconscious habits (both physical and psychological) that we have developed through our past experiences. We learn to see what serves us, and what influences our choices in life. When we realise the power of making a conscious choice, our life starts to unfold very differently.

So how do we understand who we are? To understand who we are, we need the presence of other people in our lives. We are social beings and to live in this world means we are always in relationship with other people. Not only those who we have close relationships with, but also the strangers who we may never see again.

What we see in others is a reflection of ourselves as we can only see the world through a prism of our inner world. Our emotions, feelings and beliefs about other people can be used as a tool to understand our inner world. Furthermore, the kindness and compassion we may see in other’s eyes can help us see the light and possibility in ourselves, which is often obscured by our negative beliefs of ourselves and self-criticism. Sometimes relationships with other people can bring us pain and suffering, but they also bring us opportunities for healing.

When we understand who we are now, we have opportunities to choose who we want to be by letting go of things that are no longer relevant to us. From there, we can create the future we want.

It is my hope that I can be a part of the creation.

What is health and why happiness matters?

Everyone wants to be healthy and happy. But how we define health and what makes us happy depends on each person. My journey to answer the questions lead me to different places, both physically and psychologically.

My interest in health and healing started at an early age, when I helped my mother to put moxas on her body and saw a little booklet showing meridians and acupuncture points. I decided to go to Acupuncture and Shiatsu college in Japan after graduating from university. I worked as a therapist in Japan for 5 years and moved to London where I encountered Craniosacral therapy. My belief that there should be a more holistic way to understand our health, happiness and healing made me pursue Core Process Psychotherapy. Further, after completing my MA, I decided to learn Rolfing as I felt that Rolfing can help me to integrate the different modalities that I have learned.

I am grateful for all the encounters I have had that lead me to where I am and who I am now. I am passionately curious to understand many aspects of human health and happiness, and keep exploring them through my life experiences.

I am a Registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and Complementary Therapist Association. I follow their guideline and code of ethics.
